Placing acans next to eachother?

I have a few different acans that look somewhat similar and I was wondering if I could put them together with no problems. I’d like to have them somewhat grow into eachother but don’t want them to fight. Is this possible? Attached is a pic of two acans I have had quite some time.. one looks really bad because I just picked it up and rinsed sand off of it but I assure you it’s healthy!

They can be really close but I personally would not have them laying against each other like that.

So I should space out a little bit and let them just grow however they’d like?

Acans of the same Group are fine next to each other.
Like my 3 different ones in the pic on the same rock.
