Waiting for paint to dry is the worst lol. As soon as its good to go I'll get the sump plumbed up. Sumps 48 inches long. Think I'm going to center it in the stand. It'll align my skimmer with a door section vs between so I'll have easy access to it.
Yeah, you definitely don't want to find at the last minute that you can't get your skimmer out. "Awww man!!!"
Great looking tank. It's one thing seeing photos on the internet, but standing next to it is a whole different thing.
That's a solid tank too from a respected name which makes it all the more cool.

Agreed! I bought it without even seeing it. I was sent many pictures. When I walked in and saw it for the first time my mouth was wide open🤣
This is my second planet aquarium. So far I love them.

Make sure your returns are not too low in the tank. Your sump will fill fast when the power is off. I have a 310g with the same footprint and I fill my 60”x24” sump almost to the top when the returns are off.

I run them half out the water on all my tanks for this reason. Also helps get the surface agitated. Good looking out for sure.

That’s good, definitely don’t want to find out the hard way. 1” of water is about 13g with our footprint which fills a sump fast.

I can’t wait to see how your build goes. I considered going 30” vs 25” tall but I didn’t want to have to put my mask on to reach the bottom lol. I still use tongs so it wouldn’t have mattered.

Yeah I was going to run check valves but hear about more failing then working so saved my money. I'm running a little under 9 inches in my sump so should have enough room. We shall see though.

I was stuck on the same thing. Was going to pick up a new planet 310 that was 25 tall but I couldn't pass this deal up. The wife agreed going 30 tall was worth it so went for it lol.

I run my returns (I have duel return pumps) close to the top as well and it works out well. Like you said it helps with surface agitation and it breaks the siphon after about an inch or so of water. I decided against check valves for the same reason (they always fail over time unless you do a lot of maintenance on them). I cut my returns a lot to dose coral snow so I test my water level a lot lol.

I went with a Glass cages as I had a lot of custom options I wanted and Joe was awesome to work with. Having to go through a fish store for Planet was hard as every option I wanted they had to reach out and it took days to get a response. Awesome you found a great deal on yours.

This is how I run them in my tanks. They will sit higher if needed be.

I got a quote through them. Shipping took them off my list. After shipping and a stand it just ended up being cheaper getting a 310 planet at a local story that carries them and builds custom stands.

The Planet matrix tanks are the way to go if you don’t need any customization. Mine has the overflow on one end and close loops added as I didn’t want anything on the back wall.
