So let me start by saying not very tech savvy, actually still have a "flip phone". I have a collective set up with the Launch and the Kraken, and I am trying to use the Plank feeder, but cannot get it to work
I have the feeder plugged into an AC outlet on the Launch and the pump in a regular outlet so pump can run 24/7.

Clicking on the feeder tab I get a popup that has off, Auto and feed, Should I have this setting on off or on Auto? Or is this even my issue? Maybe I cannot use the outlet for this purpose and need the energy bar?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I scrap the Hydros altogether

I have not setup that feeder on the Hydro but several have that are in the Hydros facebook group. Have you tried asking there? You will need to join the group if you have not done so already. Here is a link https://m.facebook.com/groups/hydrosgroup/?ref=share . The off, auto, on is normally a way to override the output. It is normally in auto if you want the controller to control it. If set to off or on then it is forced to that state until it is set back to auto. That is referred to as overriding the output.

Thanks for the response, but not a Facebook user, hoping to get help here. I am sure its something stupid, not completing a set or something

You don't want to join that group anyways. It is full of self righteous jerks. Especially Connor.

Hopefully someone chimes in. I've only used the Hydros feeder and it is not very intuitive to setup.

@AVAST Marine is very helpful if you chat on their website or send them an email.

I can’t help with the Hydros, but Facebook is a an absolutely ridiculous medium for support, be it user based or official. It is disorganized, threads take numerous clicks to expand, search sucks and most groups are fan based more than support based.

As @braaap said, @AVAST Marine is amazing and may offer better help anyway.

I don’t know how hydros handles feeding, but maybe just setup a fixed timer for x seconds x times per day.

I did buy a timer just in case, but after all the money I have dumped into Hydros, it would be nice to get them working. Although know that I own the Kraken, launch and X10 I kind of think I should have bought a Candy Basslet

I mean set a timer on the hydros to turn on the outlet at intervals. I have to assume the hydros can easily do that at least.

The also have a forum where you can post but you will still need to join. You can also search for anyone that has posted about the plank feeder. Here is a link to the forum https://forum.coralvuehydros.com/ . The post I seen on there seem to be using the generic output type which is under the advanced family. It allows you to setup a schedule within the output and if you turn on advanced settings you can do multiple feedings per day as long as the interval apart is the same for all.

My favorite fish. I’m considering getting one in my next order.

Ya know --- @Connor At CoralVue and team appear to pop in here when convenient. Given the size of the community and the number of hydros users, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect them to respond here -- both to help the individual, as well as the rest of the community.

GHL opted to make their forum announcement only, and force all support or questions through their ticket system and their private forum. While it may ease "support" for them, it is inconvenient for many users and more aimed at a way to control messaging and exposure, as well as generate traffic on their captive forums.

IMHO -- both companies need to reconsider how they interact with their users here at R2R.

Someone may post here from CoralVue but I figure the forum or the facebook page may be quicker since I am sure others have used this feeder on the Hydros system and they would be helpful in the exact settings. I did do a search on the forum and the plank feeder came up several times. I am not sure how long the output needs to be on each time for the feeder. I would think that the manufacturer may have some settings for the different controllers on their website for setting it up on the different controllers also.

You can setup an output to come on for a given amount of time each day on a schedule if you use the generic output type. I have a timer setup to turn on the input solenoid every 2 hours for 10 minutes. I do this so the RODI unit will refill the RO bladder tank for the ice maker on the fridge. Otherwise the solenoid is turned on when there is a refill demand from either the DI refill output or the mix tank refill output. Here is some screenshots of the RODI timer output if it helps. It does use the generic output type but does not have an assigned output device sine I only need it as an input on another output that combines this output and the DI refill and mix tank refill outputs. Start time is when you want the output on the first time, run time is how long you want it to run, run count is how many times you want it to come on during the schedule and run interval is how often you want it to come on.

That is not the point -- they lurk here and only post with in suits them, the same for GHL snd I assume Neptune.

It is a less than transparent attempt at message control and forcing captive answers in ecosystem controlled venues. I think on all accounts it is a disservice to the customer and community.

Please stop running cover for these folks at every turn. Let them answer for themselves, or let their silence answer for them.
