Hey everyone,

My tank is thriving. I just added a plate coral last week. The tentacles extended the first day but after that they stay retracted.

This morning when I got up they were extended with the lights off. Any reason this could be? I have it on the sand bed, I tried 2 locations. I have a flame angel so maybe he’s bugging it?

I know you will ask for tank stats but everything is perfect. I gave a ton of sps that are healthy etc. just the plate is being silly.

I think it's probably the flame angel. It's normal for them to extend or inflate at night but if it doesn't extend at all during the day it's possible someone is nipping it.

Tank stats are needed and what is your definition of perfect? LPS and SPS can and do thrive is different parameters.
Lighting schedule helps as well as type of lighting and height light is above water.
Also size of tank mostly needed to understand depth the coral is at.
