Hey guys tank is common up on a year old. Just added a blasto montipora (red with purple polyps) bam bam zoas utter chaos zoas psammacora a mushroom a dragon soul favia and a nuclear favites. All these where added 2 weeks ago. Other coarls include 2 diffrent hammers a torch Duncan micromussa and gsp. Out of my new corals the blasto is dying and the Monti is turning a light purple in random spots.

Alk- 9dkh
Cal- 490
Mag-1800
Nitrates -20
Phos- .33

Now I know phos is kinda high. I'm working on an alge reactor. What I'm having a hard time with is 2 weeks ago my parameters looked like this

Alk 9dkh
Cal 430
Mag 1380
Nitrates 20
Phos .23

Why did my mag shoot up so high no dosing and no water change. Even after water change mag still tested 1800 I'm using the exact same salt.

What test kit are you using to test Mag? Are the reagents expired or near expiration? Have you confirmed the 1800 with multiple iterations of the test?

Magnesium cannot shoot up or down without dosing. I suspect test error.
