My flame hawkfish is acting extremely weird, panting and flailing as if sick but fully colored, no abrasions, signs of ick, or fungus. He is in a 8 month old tank, no ammonia, no nitrite and nitrate ~10. He has lived with his two tank mates for months - a valentinii puffer and a springeri dottyback. Other tank mates include blue legged hermits, a tuxedo urchin, zoas, leather coral, frogspawn, duncans, GSP, and a gorgonian. The other fish are eatting and normal. Hawk is sitting on bottom gasping and not moving except ocassionaly flailing to perch. I cant figure out what wouldve made him sick. This happened very suddenly and he has until now been a pinnacle of health.

Howd he do?? Did he make it?
He is still alive, but this has repeated two more times now and I cannot figure out why. Best ideas Ive gotten is possible delayed effects of cyanide poisoning, nutriet deficiency, or some neurologic defect. He is actually undergoing another spell eight now. I fear its only a matter of time before he goes

This is LONG overdue - I lost my password to the site and long story short - had twch issues. ANYWAYS. The hawkfish was just suddenly...okay. He lived until about a month ago when a hurricane hit, we lost power and he died from stress sadly...never figured out why he acted so strange for a week
