Please Help sea hair inked

My sea hair pulled the sleeve down on my filter and passed, when I tried to get him he inked. I tried containing it with a graduate while I pulled the filter out. I then pulled out 1/2 the water of my 75 g tank and am in the process of replacing it. I did a quick test of nitrates before adding water and it was about 40, the water was clear.

Once I have enough water back in the tank my protein skimmer will run and I have 20 mangroves hanging out in my tank. I’m just so freaked out that happened, not only did I loose my sea hair, I’m scared I killed my tank. The fish and corals seem ok but this just happened an hour ago. Any advice would be appreciated.

I know of three others who this happened to and there was so little ink, hard to tell and carbon seemed to lower nitrates within hours. ChemiPure Blue or Elite should quickly remove it

I’m running carbon now, it will be another 2 hours before I have enough water for the protein skimmer to work. Thank you, I’m so hoping nothing else is hurt.

Just happened to me. Ink everywhere. I just did a 20 gallon water change on my 100 gallon tank.
