Hey guys I'm setting up a im nuvo fusion 15 cube. The pump that came with it was pathetic and I upgraded it to a sicce 1.5. it also has a I'm nuvo skim pro desktop.

Both the skimmer and the sicce are very loud this tank is on my deck 6 inches away from me where I work from home and about a foot on the other side is my bed.

I've unplugged the skimmer and unplugged the pump both separately and they are each making there own distinct racket you can literally feel the desk vibrating from the tank that's mostly the pump.

But the skimmer is also making it's fair share of noise if I lift the skimmer just off the bottom so it's rubber feet aren't touching it stops for a few minutes till it sinks back down and makes contact again.

I need some suggestions on how to get this silent it's driving me insane. The video attached actually sounds less then what it sounds in person.

Skip the skimmer and stick with water change would be my first thought. It sounds like the noise may be the skimmer lid? is the return pump vibrating on the side of the tank? You could use some filter floss to give more cushion and reduce vibration.

Not the lid took that off as well even took the cup off and it's not that the pump is completely isolated off the walls and only sitting on its suction cups on the bottom

Grab one of those silicone trivets and put it below both of them!

BRS sells the fancy oxo dish drying mat... but you can use any type of silicone mat

Small skimmers rarely work well. I would just do water changes as it sounds like you are always very close to it.

Honestly the skimmers not the big issue it makes some noise but really it's the return pump causing most of the noise I've had the skimmer pulled out almost all day trying to figure out what is vibrating in there.

The sicce pumps are noisy. A start to getting the tank quieter would be switching to a dc pump they’re much quieter and more controllable. Just make sure that there’s enough room in your return chamber if the pumps touch the walls of the tank it’ll vibrate

It may be to much pump.
I have the same system and run a sicci 0.5. It's not dead silent but quiet enough as the tank is 2 feet away from my head when I sleep.
It will make noise if it touches the side.
Also no need for a skimmer in that small of a system.
My current im15 is now 8 months old.
