Read too much conflicting info on internet now I'm confused. I'm attempting to plumb my wife's dream 225 reef tank. Plan was two 1-1/2 durso drains through the 2" bottom bulkheads. Returns through two 1-1/4 through the 1-1/2 back bulkheads. The sump I have is an eshopps Rs-300 third generation. It has two 1" inputs and paperwork states max flow 2200gph. Is that rating determined by those inputs? Can I open them up to meet my 1-1/2 drains? Do I need a bigger sump? I have two apex cor 20 pumps I can use and a octo classic 202 s skimer.

While some of the flow is related to the 1" inputs, some is in the use of 1 sock and size of the opening to the other chambers. Pushing more flow thru it can cause problems and make it less efficient. You can open the inputs up but I would not increase the flow. Powerheads are better at generating flow in the tank.
