Plumbing a UV in an existing set up

How long do I have to wait till after the PVC primer and cement dries can I turn the pump back onto the existing system?

Yeah a 233 gallon working on getting all wires and stuff together in a cool way I have tried a few things that I didn’t love

I’m inpatient. If I am not using heavy duty for more polymer's and simply using Fusion I wait about 5-10 minutes and usually flush the pipe with sink water. But I always run fresh, and more than normal, carbon after I glue fittings and put them on my system.

You are absolutely killing your flow with that step down. You might want to look at getting new 2” rings so you can use the same pipe size.

Honestly, this is the part. I struggled with the most was the plumbing and trying to figure out a way to get it set up to fit the union actually on the aqua violet fittings itself. I have two pretty large return pumps. I haven’t done the flow measurement yet, but I’m definitely aiming for fish health/parasite maintenance.

Pretty sure I wanna do a control board in the center to hide all of the plumbing from the overflow and return to leave an open clean stand say nothing but some cool gear I had one set up before, but wasn’t quite big enough

Let me ask you all a question, but turn in the tank water volume over a little less than one time an hour be sufficient for killing fish parasites in the water column I have 1 gallon coming out of the return every 13 seconds

Thats about 277 gallons an hour so pretty slow flow. Thats going to be fairly effective but theres plenty of people who say our UV’s cant really kill parasites like Ich.

On my 280g system with a single return pump, i have 2 x 55w aquauv one right after another and run 670gph.

More than double are you trying to kill the algae at that rate? Or still after parasite

Mostly parasites that I dont think I have…. But it makes me feel good. But I also have 2 of them in a row so total contact time is about the same…

I dont think you will have any issues at that rate.
