Hi Fellow Reefers,

There is nothing like a tank relocation to get your mind flowing with ideas. I will be moving to a new home. The wall space for the tank is almost three times the size that I have now. I've decided to add two more shallow reef/frag tanks to end cap my display tank. The newly added tanks will be butted up to the display. The idea is to have the main display reef and two Waterbox Frag 60 tanks. The frag tanks will both have a waterfall and mangrove plants. Not sure how I plan on stocking the tanks.

I need advice on the best ways to plumb the tank so that all the water is shared. Both additions will have their own sump.
Can the entire system be run with one return pump?
How do I plum this design so that the water flows throughout the entire system?
Has anyone built a waterfall here built a waterfall and can you share design/pictures
If anyone has any ideas on how to make this happen, I would appreciate it. I have some ideas but would love to hear from some more experienced reef builders.

Attached is a photo of my current set up and a quick mock-up of the design.
Any help and advice is welcome. If you look at my current build, you will see that I am very ocd when it comes to wiring and designing the system.

I would lose the two sumps in the frag tanks and use one large sump under the Display. The two other cabinets under the frag tanks could then be used for equipment and storage cabinets. You could use one large return pump and split it 3 ways with valves to tune the flow to each tank. Or use 3 separate return pumps but that would take up a fair bit of sump space.

I understand and have thought about it. I was planning on adding two matching custom stands to the one that I have. I will get a quote on the two stands vs the single large one and see where I land.
