I’m plumbing my first aquarium. Are the bulkheads on the bottom of the overflow boxes typically ABS? I’m asking because I think I need the Oatey ABS to PVC cement for this connection. Is this correct? Therefore regular cement wouldn’t bind properly. Product is a Prodigy Eclipse M. More pictures can be made available if that’s helpful. Thank you

The o-ring on the bulkhead should handle the bulkhead/box connection.

Glue is for the connection through the bulkhead.

Yes, this is an ABS bulkhead; I usually just use all-purpose cement, testing in a small area to see if the plastic melts if unsure about composition!

As stated above; the bulkhead gasket serves to seal the overflow box itself, the pipe cement is only for plumbing the internal fitting(s)!

I should have been clearer. I do have gaskets inside the overflow for those connections and I did not intend to cement the pipe Inside the overflow. I’m only referring to where the PVC connects to the end of the bulkhead on the underside of the overflow.

I've used all purpose and it was fine, next time I tried it I had leaks. So now I use the ABS to PVC. I suggest you do the same to prevent annoyance later.
