RODI plumbing. Glue question

Getting ready to start my plumbing for my RODI system. Have my PVC and hopefully all my fittings. I'm ready to glue it all together. Question before me is: what is reef-safe glue can I use for this?

was thinking of grabbing this to get me started.

You should be fine to use any pvc glue and not worry about it being reef safe since its not coming into constant contact with your tank.
If im working with pvc i use clear primer and clear medium pvc glue.
If its going in an area i dont care if anyone sees, or underground, i use purple primer and blue glue.
How are you setting up your system? Usually people connect a splitter to a faucet or hose bib and feed it with 1/4" tubing unless its a commercial/industrial system.

It's a simple setup. RODI to a 40-gal trash can with 1/2 Uniseal to a 90 PVC pipe, where I will connect a DERNORD PVC True Union Ball Valve to shut off / control flow.

I may be overthinking this, but the product I linked says cement, and you are saying glue. Same thing?

The Oaty PVC cement says it's for "potable water", which means water that you can cook with or drink, so it should be fine as far as reef safe.

But, what are you trying to cement? Most RODI systems use push-fit connections, unless you have an unusual situation where you have PVC pipe coming to or from your RODI system.

If you're talking about the blue/red/black 1/4" hoses that connect the different stages of your RODI system, those just get pushed in, no cement needed.

You might be overthinking it.

I have my RODI feeding a trashcan holding tank and i just use this so it shuts off when full. No uniseal needed and also you shouldnt need to control flow. Its already trickling in like its got prostate problems lol.

Also, its all solvent cement. The blue glue is the name of the cement from Christys.
Red hot blue glue.

Agreed with Saltyreef, if you want your RODI to collect in a trashcan and stop automagically when full, you want a kit like linked above.

Just look at the still shot of the first video I linked from BRS, you can see the float valve in the Brute trash can next to a very young Ryan B - this is what shuts the water off when the bucket is full. The other valve in the kit that looks like a square box is easily installed in your RODI system, and when it detects the back pressure when the float switch closes, it will close itself, kind of like a second, redundant shut off valve.

You shouldn't need any cement, PVC, or ball valves to make this all happen

I'm using 2 brute trash cans, one for Rodi and one to mix salt. 1/4" RO tubing to a splitter then section of tubing to each brute using a float valve like the one linked above. I have shut offs on both so I can fill one or both and often I'm dipping out of the saltwater so I don't want it refilling until I'm ready to mix a batch. I wouldn't use a manual valve because I would forget to close it.

Ah. Then I think your original plan is the one. I have mine on wheels and use a transfer pump.

I built a stand out of wood to keep everything in its place. I only mix about 6 gallons a week so no need to do a dedicated salt can. Yet.

Im sure another tank is in my future... Maybe X-mas time :D
