I am most likely over thinking this but figured id ask this amazing site.

I purchased the IM 50 ext and the sump i picked was the reef octo 24A

The overflow is a herbie with two drains, the sump only has on input spot.

what's the best way to plumb this?

Thanks in advance for your help

One is your full siphon drain and should go to the sump input. (Line with a turndown U or strainer and gate or ball valve.

The other line is an emergency drain and can drop into any other sump compartment.
I like to plumb it into an area above the waterline so if it ever has water flowing you can hear it dripping into the sump and know something needs attention.

Sometimes people tune herbies so theres a trickle of water flowing down the emergency drain to negate noise.
