Plumbing RODI to cold supply from hot water heater

Any issues I'm not thinking of with plumbing an RODI system using the service valve of the cold water supply line for a water heater? I would use a T off the supply line. Laundry room is on the other side of garage so I can use the drain there.

That’s exactly what I did. Just t’d into the pex that feeds the water heater.
