I did a fresh water dip yesterday after reading several posts here. One says 30 minutes, so I started and set timer. After reading more posts, others say 5 minutes so I stopped after 15. When can I expect to see improvement? Can I dip again if needed? How long should a clam be submerged to be effective?

Someone suggested RO/DI water but I used tap water that runs through whole house carbon filter because the ph of RO/DI is acidic around 6.3. So I thought tap water which is 8.3 would be better. I also made sure the fresh water was at same temp as tank.

I appreciate all responses to my questions. Thanks for helping me. Happy reefing.

5 mins max. If fish seems very agitated, pull it sooner
Additionally, add a pinch of baking soda for ph and same temperature as display tank
Tap is fine for FW dip.
For clam- 3 mins sufficient
