Planning to add a Mandarin to my tank in the next few months. I heard about using rubble in the sump to act as a “Pod Hotel”. Would ceramic media work as well? Ex Ceramic Rings? I do not have a refugium.

Planning to add pods a few months before adding the Mandarin to my tank. Thanks!

I'm unsure about pod hotel, mandarins are beautiful fish, just research before introducing as they are defined as (hard - expert) for the constant grazing needs for survival

The idea for it is that you can open it and shake it out in the tank to feed the fish (at least that's my understanding)

the pod hotel or loose rubble is really to protect the pods from fish so they can reproduce safely, if you have a sump with no fish in it, not really any need to protect them.
