Good afternoon - need some help with an unexpected polyp. Just bought my first set of frags, dipped and all that jazz. After an hour I've discovered this weird looking orange thing at the base of one of my leathers. Seem to be a few other polyps of similar shape that have not yet opened.

Is this something I need to remove? Have no idea what i am looking at here.

Thank you.

Hi there! It depends on what you want to do. I got a Duncan frag and it came with some small green polyps on it. Before I bought it my LFS guy pointed it out and asked if it was a problem. I said no because I am going to make those polyps grow on a frag rock. After it spreads, I will eventually destroy the green polyps on the Duncan frag. I got that frag 3 months ago with 3 small green palys on it. Now there are currently 8 polyps growing on the frag.. it will outgrow whatever it’s competing against. I would remove them, unless you understand what is going to happen.
Good luck !!

Def palythoa but i would keep your eye on it. Looks like the invasive type...
