Possible AEFW eggs?

That does appear to be them.. have you tried taking a turkey baster and blowing off your acros to see if any worms come off?

I just picked this one up, it has yet to touch my system. I'm wondering what my best route would be. Clip the coral from the plug and give it a nice long dip possibly.

Lots of dips and yes cut the plug off.. if you have a separate tank I would quarantine it for like 2 weeks with dips every few days to make sure it stays clean and you didn’t miss any eggs that would hatch

I do have a separate system I can put it into. Guess I'll be moving a light over to it shortly and getting that dip ready to go.

Throw it away. Assume that any other acropora you got from the same source are also affected and throw those away as well.

Just curious if you just picked this up did you not see it was dying at the base? Did you pay for it? Honestly for what we can see the entire acro looks like it is on its way out.

My opinion is the trash bin will make a great home for it.

Yeah, I'm with these guys. eggs usually mean the garbage can for me as well. I don't even bother, even if it's a nice one.

Dispose of it. The frag is already being snacked on, that's a lot of eggs, and just like Ripley says in Aliens...

Well a little while in and out of the bag will make them look bad. This was before I took it home. I removed the base and gave it a long dip and fragged it up. Im planning to dip it at least 2 more times ans keep a close eye on it. We will see how it goes.

Snip a frag of clean living tissue, dip a time or two and go. KCl will destroy aefw. Throw away egg laden material. Eggs are the problem. Yeah some super small risk but KCl dips wreck worms very effectively.

That is the route I ended up taking. Surprisingly there was no dead tissue on the coral just eggs on the base. Ive dipped it 3x since cutting it up and let it sit for a week in a quarantine tank while I monitored it, they got there last dip before going in my main system. I hit the frags with some good bursts of water from a pipette to see if any flatworms came off and nothing did before I transfered over to my main tank. I'm pretty confident I got all the flatworms with the first or second dip and have seen no signs of eggs again. So fingers crossed that nothing re appears. They are healing up nicely.
