Hi Everyone! So i have had this torch in my tank for about 2 weeks. Everything seemed fine but this morning i noticed its starting to recede a bit. I tried to get a picture but I will get some when the white lights come on later today. My question is, A. is this even receding or am i just overthinking? If it is, what should I do to try to save it?
Parameters:
- Alk = 8
- Calcium = 399
- Mag = 1332
- Nitrate = 0-5 ppm (API)
- Phosphate = 0.03 (Hanna)

Might you have any pictures of the receding area you are questioning?

A new white area will be very visible when torches start receding.

How long have you had your tank up and running?

I will get a better pic when the T5's come on later today. The tank has been up and running for 4.5 months at this point.

AI's are at 24 WATS. I have been ramping them up for the last few weeks. the AI's start at 8:00 AM and ramp til 11 AM. they start ramping down at 8:00 PM and the tank goes dark at 11 PM. the T-5's are on from noon to 4:00
i run my AI Prime at 31 WATS . i start to ramp ap at 9:00 AM and it fully turns on at 12:00 PM then ramps down at 8:00 PM and turns of at 9:30 PM that is what works for me. but i do not no how much PAR your T5 run.

Here are two pictures I was able to get. The portion closer to the left side is what has me worried.

Unfortunately that does look like the polyp is bailing.

Not much to do for that particular head as it's leaving the skeleton.

Stable parameters are the best bet.

If you have a solution for a dip that may help but without knowing what's wrong 100% the dip will only be temporary.

Thanks for the help.. I did the dip just now and I tilted the portion that looks rough toward the light a little more. everything is fairly stable and everything else is doing well in the tank.. there is a frogspawn, blasto, trumpet, green slimer, an acan, and a few zoas that seem to be doing fine. Hopefully I can figure out what exactly the issue is so I can try to save this one.

Is there any update on this?
Yes and a good one. The torch has stopped receding and is looking great! It is hard to tell if it is growing back over that portion of its skeleton (idk if that is possible), because the flow hardly ever lets me get a look at that part. But there is full polyp extension most of the day. Other euphyllia have been doing well this whole time (1 wall hammer and 2 frogspawn). I will try to get a picture later today.

Updated photos. Can’t get the area that I was originally worried about but looks happy to me. What do you all think?

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I have torches receeding as well, nitrates have been at 0 while phosphates sit at .05. Could the lack of nitrates be the culprit?

Thanks for the input, going to dose sodium nitrate today. Hopefully my phosphates don't zero out.
