I added a 5/8” back ( glued ) to the outside and 5/8” sides to the inside ( glued ). All plywood.
I also reinforced the top with 3/4” plywood inset into the opening and then glued the finish piece on. That is 3/4” edge glued board.

Simple. Kept open because the fuge is also going to be a frag grow out.

Whats everyone using for wood to make a Nice display stand that isnt Oak?

Looking to have a friend build a stand and canopy and I want it to look nice but not solid oak price tag

pine and maple are alternatives, but they stain much more differently. Pine is the cheaper one, with maple being the middle ground. or you can do what I did; I built the frame out of regular lumber and skinned it with an oak finish, it looks nice and costs way less than building the whole thing out of solid oak.
