Hello,

I may be potentially moving within the next 2 months, I plan on bringing my reef tank with me, thankfully it's only 25 Gallons. I've moved in the past with my Freshwater and old FOWLR, but never a reef tank. I'm of course going to try and keep as much existing water and filtration with the move, but coral wise, any precautions I should take? Or would putting them all in a tote filled with tank water be sufficient? Here is my current live stock and Coral stock.

2 Clowns
1 Cleaner Shrimp
1 Gold Banded Shrimp
Random Inverts

Corals

1 Hammer
Few Random Zoas
2 Blastos
2 Duncans
1 Candy Cane
1 Toadstool Leather
1 Chalice

Following along with this I also have a 25 gallon I’ll be moving 3 hours in the next couple months. Wanted to see what people would say about the tank and sand. My original plan was fish in a bucket with air pump. coral in another & rock in another. Was planning on just leaving some water in the tank to cover the sand.

So I was reading conflicting posts about getting new sand and tossing the old one. My lFS Reefers opinion after asking him, he prefers to keep the existing sand. He also said he would do a small water change when filling up the tank after the move, like 20 percent. That was his opinion and what he told me. I'm still planning my attack as well.

Thankfully for me, I'm only moving 15 minutes away, but I'm still planning on doing what you're doing, fish and shrimp in a separate bucket or tote with air pump, rocks and coral in a different tote or bucket.

Yeah that was my biggest question about the sand I figured if it was covered with water it would be fine wanted to hear some opinions!
