Powder blue in 5 ft tank?

Ok I just wanted to make sure. I hear a lot of talk of at least a 6 footer. I would say rock work is pretty open. Plenty of space to swim in, out, and around. Front and back of tank is wide open.

I usually go for smaller ones. I like watching fish grow. One of my favorites as well. Had one before in a 125, 6ft tank. I felt it was too small once he got a little size to him. Felt really bad and don't want to make the same mistake again.

I got a smaller one years back, its def cool to watch them grow. He's my avatar, this year will be 12 years of having him. So I'm guessing he's around 13 years old.

That's awesome! I can only hope I am that successful. The one I had in the 125 was with me for 3 years. I made a mistake and introduced a sick fish. Outcome was sad.

Depending on the other dimensions of the tank 5 feet can be plenty of room for PBT. Vertical doesn’t really matter but as long as the tank is at least 2 feet wide and he has plenty of swimming room you should be good. IMO it’s all about swimable sq feet as opposed to tank footprint. I’ve seen 10 foot tanks with so much rock crammed in them that the fish would probably have happier in a 75 gallon.

Tank is a 60"×36"×27"

That will work. Look at it his way if you take a standard 180, 72x24 and pull a tape on the diagonal you get a measurement of around 74 inches. If you pull a tape on your tank you get a measurement around 72. If you simplify it even more your tank takes up 15 sq feet while a 180 is just 12, which you you rather have?
