pH probe is now calibrated.

pH 7.86 is what I got this mornjng when lights turned on for 1 hr.

Purple tang stopped eating and is not in good shape. Found it floating around and was able to grab it with my net. All the other fish including powder blue is eating pellets and algae but still would not touch frozen.
The purple tang is breathing really fast - now that the pH issue has been determined to be a problem with the probe, that leaves gill disease as the most likely cause.
Not sure what you can do for the purple tang at this point - you could try a FW dip, but that may just hasten its demise.
Are you sure none of the other fish are breathing fast?

Jay, the tang had past not too long after it wad floating. im afraid when I saw it floating, it was already too late and thats why the breathing was fast. it did not last more than an hr once placed in a qt box.

I did not notice any heavy breathing on the other fishes. I'll try to post a video of them tonight now that the blue tang is out .
