I need to extend the power cord on my ato, and was wondering the best way. I was going to cut the stiff ends on the wire on the pump and splice in some 16 gauge wire and snap it into the wire clips on the controller. Is that adequate or should I cut those clips off and spice it there as well?

I hope the pump will be able to handle the pressure of that distance.
I would cut the line six inches from the end of the pump and splice the additional footage of wire.

Good luck!

I would just extend the wire with 22 or 24 gauge speaker wire and use european terminal connectors on the end of the extension to connect the pumps, I would not modify the factory connectors and in case the extension is ever damaged by wicking in water or cutting/abrasion, I would want it to be replaceable.
