Hi,
Was wondering if power heads keep nitrates stored in them until they are cleaned out? One of my current powerheads has some algae on it and if I take it off it spits out a bunch of gunk. Will this raise my nitrates?

The powerheads themselves can’t hold nitrate, the stuff on it between cleanings might contribute to nitrate similar to a dirty filter sock, but I would think that it would need to be SO dirty that flow is being reduced for that to be an issue.

Alright. The flow isn't being reduced so I would say its fine. Once I am home I will definintely clean it.
