I have a 4ftx2x2 100gal mixed reef tank. I had been running an LED/T5 hybrid setup with 2 hydra 32’s and 4 ATI T5 bulbs. I had a power surge that knocked out the T5 fixture and the two Hydra 32’s are leaving a big dim hole in the middle of the tank (when hung at similar heights).

I’m looking for a cost effective replacement/setup that gives me decent spread throughout the tank. I have been considering AI blades vs adding another LED to the center with even spread. Anyone have strong recommendations for one approach vs another?

love my helix bar, reefcrest is perfect mix of white with a slight blue to it. Luca sells a mount that lets you run helix and ai together.

That would be awesome! How do I get in touch with Luca about that mount?

It seems for a 48" tank I could go with either the 35" or the 47"?

Wow. That looks perfect. Thanks for that info.

I have 2 meso blue 47" on my 100EXT 48" long to supplement my 2 Mitra 7206. I am sure Luca would recommend 4 foot also.

Theres a $70 difference for a set of 2 (160 vs 120w for 2) and you're replacing 216w of t5's assuming 4 48" tubes.

Pretty sure the new bars have dimmable drivers which in its simplist can be dimmed with a 100K ohm (10k-100k.... full off via timer) potentiometer. There are 10v analog controllers as well.

Most in either fw or sw would normally recommend strip lights that match the length. Is a bit tricky with lenses and hanging height factors.
And preferences like if one wants an " island" type presentation.

If you go to their website and email them he will usually reach out same day and answer any questions you have. Yeah I have the 60b which is a 75g but not as tall, it covers it great without any issues and I’m only running one. It’s also going through a glass lid with multiple obstructions.

The new bars do have dimmers with meanwell drivers. I’m running mine with a smart outlet into my power supply and that covers the timer for less than 12 bucks. That picture above is running the basic 3d printed light mounts and it hits greats. The only disco I get is from running glass lids with condensation, if I run them without the glass it looks awesome.
