I have my sump downstairs and a room over, about 25 feet away. The controller would be down here, issue is I would like to control my T5 lights 25 feet away with a powerbar. Does anyone use long extension cords or what else can I do? Ideas?

@TheHarold is correct.

It sounds like the ideal condition is a powerbar at the tank to control the lights and another at the sump to control the items there. The network cable itself can run alongside the plumbing too connecting sump to display. It also gives you possible expansion at either point as well.

OK so I just need a "PAB (RJ45)"? Is that the only cable that will work?

Yes, but that is a very common cable used for ethernet. It is not typically called "PAB", that is just what GHL calls it. Link below:

Will any ethernet cable work I have an old one?

Depends on how old it is, but should. I would connect the cable before running it through the house to make sure GHL can talk to the powerbar. If a connection is made, then run the cable and move the powerbar to its new home.

@TheHarold PAB refers to the type of network they are running. It is a form of token ring.

No need to spend extra on designer cables, unless your gonna have it run next to electrical wires for a long strect. Even then you might not need anything special. Any cat 5e works. I made my own to run between floors.

any Cat5E or higher cable will work. I myself make my own. A good tip for you though.. Run 2 or 3 cables. In the future you have the option to use them for 0-10v.
