I've had this powerhead (maxi jet 1200) for roughly 7-8 years...+/- a year or two.

I recently cleaned it with vinegar/water in a 50/50 solution and it worked really well... I just feel like this pump may not be sucking/pumping like it once was...you think it's just old and needs replacing or maybe it needs further cleaning? I have other pumps that old that still work really well.

MJ's are amazing pumps, they're cheap and last forever!

I would do 100% vinegar and see what that does, if not Muriatic Acid makes everything like new ;) If even that doesn't work, it's time to retire the old fella, or grab an EcoMod for it as that will replace the impellar - the motor is probably still good.

Yeah? I was thinking it was a motor issue...I can always use new pumps..I think I'll buy a brand new maxi and clean up this old one...I'll end up using both regardless..

Thanks!

Yeah I mean new one's are about $20... that pump only cost you $2.85 a year in the past seven years (less electricity) so I would say it did it's job ;)

Oh yeah, I'm not complaining at all about how long it lasted. It's done its job for sure.
