Preferred Aptaisa Cure?!

I’m sure it’s been discussed, but I’d love to hear about your preferred aptaisa cure! I have a mixed reef, I don’t have a major break out, but I am finding them. I e been using joes juice which works on the ones I see. I’ve been thing about a peppermint shrimp, but have heard that they can go after hammers, torches, and even some other, larger preferred anemones. What’s everyone’s thoughts??

I personally would go for aptasia eating nudibranches as long as you add them at night they will be fine, I’ve had peppermint shrimp before, the beat aptasia but will go for prepared food first, I had one that was a model citizen and another who ate my YELLOW Acan, peppermint shrimp are a hit or miss in my experience

Over the years I have try them all. Honestly you don’t know for example Copper band butterfly fish some might go after them and some might not and that is the same with filefish or peppers mint shrimps

Honestly it depends, they are active at night and as long as they are on rock or glass then of course but if they are tiny so can be sometimes difficult to spot

I just added berghia's and a peppermint shrimp. I have aptaisia's on the sand and the berghia's don't crawl on sand. I've also got them in my overflow and probably in my pipes too, so even if I see the tank is cleared of them all, its only temporary, they always come back. Once you have aptaisia, its a never ending series of battles.

A fish that eats aptasia is a very effective way to keep a tank aptasia free. Unlike Berghia, fish can sustain themselves after the aptasia population eliminated and keep the aptasia from reappearing down the line.

Berghias work IF you get a breeding population growing. This is the key, you have to get them breeding. But there are things in your tank that will eat their eggs. Amphipods and bristleworms will eat the eggs. Peppermint shrimp love to eat the adult Berghia. Wrasses… For my last infestation, I set up a 5 gallon quarantine tank with an air stone. Added aiptasia and started breeding my nudis in there away from predators. I could easily transfer them to the display with a turkey baster with the rubber tip removed. Just deposit them SLOWLY so they can grip the rock. Otherwise they will blow around the tank and straight into the mouth of an aiptasia.

I had great success with the peppermint shrimp. Products you buy , like F-Aptisia, can work but I struggled as I had them in places I could not reach. I added 3 peppermint shrimp and within a month all Aptisia was gone. Been gone for about a year and half. If I get Aptisia again, I'll try the Berghias (The shrimp have been eaten by a Wrasse).

Adding a peppermint shrimp was the key tool in eliminating aptasia for me. No issues with the shrimp bugging any coral or others inhabitants.

I used and prefer fish. I used a Chelmon marginalis, which is related to copper bands. Worked great.

I got an Aptasia Eating File Fish and had great results with him. A few months and I dont have one in my tank, at least visible. I know some claim they can pick at coral, but I keep him well fed and havent had an issue.

I got a bunch of Peppermints (actual Wurdemanni) from @ReefBySteele and *knock ok wood* they got to work. I had aiptasia popping up everywhere and after a few weeks of Peppermints I have to look for it.

A fish would probably be the most rewarding for me, but many of them don't appear to be reef safe. I'd love a Copperband, but afraid I can't take care of it long term.
