Hey all,

I have ran an Apex V2 for 6 years or so. I noticed neptunes quality control has gone down hill. I sent in my Trident and spent $300 for the refurbish and "fixing" components. Within a month it was down and not pulling sample water.

I say this to ask if there is a better control system and testing system out there now?

Sample line can clog easily. Buy a prefilter, flush it with a syringe when you change the reagents to keep it running smoothly

Had a filter already installed on the line. Did all of that and it still didnt work. Looking to see what else is out there and what are peoples experience with them now.

I have the Hydros system and I have had no issues with it so far. The Maven is not out yet but there is the iV and X10 combo for doing alkalinity testing. You can also get a pH and a salinity reading which is taken just before the alkalinity test starts. The X10 has the probe ports for the pH and salinity probe. It also has 4 precision dosing pumps. You will need three dosing pumps for the iV testing but you can always get a simple doser and hook to one of drive ports to use for the drain pump so that would leave you 2 of the 4 precision dosing pumps for dosing if you want. I had my X10 and iV setup as a stand alone for several months at first and used 2 of the pumps for dosing All For Reef and a KH buffer. I dosed the KH buffer dynamically based on the alkalinity test from the iV. I now have it as part of my collective. With the Hydros each module can be used as a member of a collective or stand alone. Members of a collective share all info about their inputs and outputs will all member of the collective so you can control an output on one controller with inputs and in some cases output from other controllers in the collective. Unlike the systems with a head unit and modules the collective will try and continue without one of it's members although and inputs or outputs on the affected controller would not be accessible to the other members so that may affect outputs on the other members but you would not loose everything like with a bad head unit.

I use GHL and am mostly happy with it. My only automated test is alkalinity, using the KH director.

I have a Reefbot, but it is too much of a bother. I wouldn’t own a Neptune product.

Hydros being wholly cloud dependent is a non-starter for me.

Are any of them good anymore? Seems like all reef controller manufacturers have sold out for profits and quality has taken a dive.

GHL is quality hardware. The app dashboard kind of sucks, but overall the reliability and functionality are great.
