As you can see from the title, I’m a bit confused as to what this thing is. It’s just chilling next to my bird’s nest. Anyone know what it is and whether it’s good or bad? Never seen it before and this tank has been running for months. Thanks!

EDIT: He’s so pretty! He’s my son now, so I hope I don’t have to kill him :( Kind of looks like a crab mixed with a spider. Has little white branches that remind me of a nudibranch.

Hard to tell form the pic but if you do have two kill it tell your son that it’s somewhere in the tank

Haha, I was talking about the crab himself. The crab is now my child :) That was the best picture I’m gonna get for now. He’s hiding in a crevice now. Only poking out his antennae.

It resembles the shape of a decorator crab, possibly?
I was thinking that as well, but its legs are so small compared to theirs and I don’t think decorator crabs have those weird branches. I’ll keep looking for similar pictures on the web.

EDIT: Also, the abdomen is shaped differently.

Looks like a small decorator crab though? The body shape is what makes me think that- not 100% sure though
Agreed. This guy has an egg-shaped abdomen, which makes me doubt it a bit. Legs are also not as long. I hope I didn’t stump anyone. Was really hoping someone would know :(

Pardon his outfit, but does it look like this? Can you tell from mine's under side?

It’s really hard to tell. A lot smaller, obviously. The top portion of his legs are just pink and the bottom are covered in those white branches. I don’t know if this will help, but the little branches on his legs and antannae kind of look like snowflakes. That’s what makes it so pretty. Honestly, his legs look much more fragile than that of a crab’s, but that could be because he’s so small.

Could he be a Samurai ghost crab?
