Preventing protein skimmer foam over

If you want to keep your protein skimmer from foaming over and knocking the lid around, wipe the vertical surfaces (where skimmate should be falling down) down with veggie oil. Make sure to keep the inside of the neck oil free since you want foam to climb there.

How often do you need to coat everything?I have been having similar problems after changing pumps.

Neat idea. For those of us that are exceeding lazy, I imagine cooking spray can be used for the same effect?
