Problem w/ BGM...

I recently bought a BGM frag and have a little issue developing. I bought a one-eyed frag, removed it from the plug it came on, glued it to a small, nice-looking piece of rock and placed the rock on my sandbed in a 90 gal tank with (2) 250w HQI 14K Phoenix bulbs and 200 and some watts of T5 actinic. Ive had it about a month or so. Within this time it grew a new mouth which was really exciting, and then kind of started to melt along one edge. Not fast. Just a little bit of recession and maybe a little brown jelly covering the ridges of the skeleton that became exposed from the recession. Keep in mind, the whole frag is about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and the recession is like 5-10% of that. Its receeding along the edge that the flow in my tank hits. Could that be the culprit? Any other suggestions? Should I dip it? I love the little thing, couldn't bear to lose it.

I would move it away from the flow to see if it improves

I think the BGM is one of the hardiest chalices around, being said that I had mine in different locations around my tank including high flow and it does ok anywhere, but I would dip it in iodine just to be safe, good luck.

Hovers right around 9. Really weird how this thing just took off and then started this crap. I think it should be ok, but man its a little stressful. Everything else is doing jsut fine. NO3 and PO4 are fine (0 and 0.02), calcium is 390, mag is 1400. I'm pretty careful with water chemistry and I have other chalices that Ive watched grow with little effort. Thanks for the response.

Everytime I have something similar happen I hide the piece where there is minimal lights and flow..

Thanks amore, makes me feel a little better. I'll dip it and watch it a while. If it continues, I'll dip it again and move it.

Good advice. Ive done that in the past with great results.

Who did the frag come from? There has been alot of people having issues with the new LPS black bugs! Not saying this is the culprit but it could be.

I would do what Pnoy said and move it into some lower flow for sure, and a nice shaded area in the tank. Definatly dip it in some Iodine or TMPCC since you mention a little brown jelly affecting the frag

i agree with pnoy. less light and less flow. all my chalices seem to do better under these conditions.

Ok, the coral has been dipped and moved under an overhang. It receives little flow there and some indirect light. Hope it responds. I feel good about it's chances, cause it still looks solid. Colors still look vivid. Everyone keep their fingers crossed for me. Thanks again for suggestions.
