A few weeks ago I tried to introduce another 6 line wrasse to my tank, I already have one in there for the past 5 or 6 weeks. However, my female clown took exception to it and chased it round the tank. After 3 days the 6 line could not be found.
The majority of my fish are in pairs or groups and I wanted another 6 line to pair with the existing one and hopefully spawn. I don't think they actually pair but none the less I like my fish to be able to spawn and the ones I have kept before did.
Knowing fish have a high sensitivity of smell, reported to be around 1000 times better than even a dog, I decided to try a new approach. I bought one of thise box type nets with suckers you can stick on the glass.
I bought a larger 6 line than the last one, assembled to keep net and popped it in. I also bought 2 fang tooth blennies so hopefully help split any aggression although I don't expect my clown to bother them.
All.3 were put in the keep net yesterday afternoon along with a small cluster of barnacle shells to give them somewhere to hide. All fish are doing well and swimming in the net. The 2 blennies go in the shells while the 6 line rest under them.
I intend to release them Tuesday evening when my lights go out in the hope the clowns aggression will be much less. One can only suck it and see. Strangely enough my clown has never showed other new introductions such aggression before.
Fingers crossed.
