Hey all,

I have been banging my head over this one for a couple of days and I am starting to get worried I don't have enough flow in my system

I have an 80g shallow reef with 2x Glamorca Gyre. They are rated for 400-3000gph and I can only run each at about 30-50% max on random. (1500gph ea.) Any higher than this and I am blowing sand all over the tank.

Should I be worried there may only be about 20-30x turn on avg.?

Cheers!!

My opinion is it depends on what you want to grow. I had mostly LPS. I had lower flow. I have started some sps and have been trying to increase flow. It is helping the sps but hurting the LPS. I have been moving pumps around trying to get the right balance. I had sand and never had a problem. With increase flow it is blowing around. I am now removing it and going bare bottom. That is why WWC tanks are bare bottom. It is hard to get high flow with sand. I would think with a shallow reef it would be even harder.

Yeah I think I may have to only have a couple pieces of sps, like birds nests and have them near the top.
