Hey Everyone,

I am starting a little late to the build post. I am brand new to the world of aquariums but have chosen to dive in head first.

Build List

ProStar Rimless V2 200 Gallon Aquarium w/ BLACK Stand - Pro Clear Aquatic Systems

COR-20 Intelligent Return Pump (2000 GPH) - Neptune Systems

Classic 202-S 8" Internal Protein Skimmer - Reef Octopus

1000 Watt Helio PTC Smart Heater - Innovative Marine

2x SKY LED Aquarium Light - Neptune Systems

2x RMS XR30 G5 Tank Mount System - EcoTech Marine

2x WAV Single Pump (4000 GPH) - Neptune Systems

2x EB832 Energy Bar 832 - Neptune Systems

Apex Controller System - Neptune Systems

Trident - Marine Aquarium Water Analyzer - Neptune Systems

DOS Dosing and Fluid Metering System - Neptune Systems

PMK PAR Monitoring Kit - Neptune Systems

GRO Refugium Light with Flat Tank Mount Bracket - Neptune Systems

Apex Display Module - Neptune Systems

MPR Magnetic Probe Rack - Neptune Systems

VorTech MP40mQD - Mobius Ready QuietDrive Propeller Pump - EcoTech Marine

VorTech Battery Back-up - EcoTech Marine

80 lb. Fiji Pink Arag-Alive! Live Reef Sand - CaribSea

40 lb. Florida Crushed Coral Dry Sand - Caribsea

75 lb. LifeRock Dry Live Rock - CaribSea

(Pictures coming soon - phone being repaired)

Tank was set up and failed the leak test (missing O-ring on the return line - fixed by the LFS).
As of today tank has been filled with saltwater and running for a couple days while I have been playing with the Apex a little.
Starting a fishless cycle and dosed some ammonia and Dr. Tim's One and Only but made a mistake by not testing ammonia first before dosing. I was unaware the live sand would contain ammonia. After dosing and running a test ammonia was close to but not quite 5 ppm. Hoping the bacteria will start to take off in the coming days and start bringing this level down.

Looking forward to sharing my success/failure.

Update still cycling. Ammonia came down and was dropping quickly however we got over zealous and just kept dosing but did not wait for Nitrites to come down first... Did a 30g water change and Nitrites came down to 0 from around 5ppm. Just dosed back to 2ppm ammonia last night and now just waiting to watch it all clear out, thinking I should be done now.

Update: Added some new equipment.
Neptune ATK V2 ATO Kit
Innovative Marine Auqa Gadget 15 Gallon Hydrofill Reservoir (the 3 gallon gravity fed ATO that was included with the Prostar Rimless v2 200 did not work. The float valve is installed too low in the sump and would only trigger in critical moments to keep the return from running dry rather than topping the tank off. I am much happier with the neptune ATK and I love the new reservoir)
Neptune Auto-feeder
A second Neptune Dos
1x Jebao SOW-3 Flow pump (put in the sump where I will be dosing)

Also installed a Red Sea net top, planning on getting a custom lid from to Toplids but haven't decided on final positions and wanted to keep fish inside in the mean time.

Placed an order for the first fish from Dr. Reefs Quarantined Fish
2x Black Storm Clownfish
2x Banggai Cardinals
1x Orchid Dottyback
all quarantined so looking forward to happy healthy tankmates in about a month, hopefully.

In the meantime, I have introduced copepods to the tank and dosing some phytoplankton every 3 days. They seem to be doing well, hoping to prepare for a dragonette. Looking forward to finally having something moving in the tank.

Update on the build, have added a few new things since the last update. I have added :

Radion XR30 G6 Pro LED Light Fixture - EcoTech Marine

ReefWave 45 Pump with Controller (3960 GPH) - RedSea

40 Watt Classic UV Sterilizer (Up to 325g) - Black Body - Aqua Ultraviolet

CW-200 External Algae Scrubber V2 - Clear Water

I replaced the COR-20 with this to have the full system on the battery back up.

Vectra M2 - Mobius Ready DC Return Pump (2000 GPH) - Ecotech Marine

Have added several more rocks to ease aggression as well as to have more coral real estate. Currently battling a turf algae outbreak. Was having an issue with Green Hair Algae but after the installation of the UV Sterilizer, turf is the only thing that seems to grow.

Just installed the CW-200 Algae scrubber a few days ago to help drive nutrients down and give a spot for the algae to grow that is not on my corals.
