Glenn, why do you want to run interceptor? Are you seeing something in the tank?

In general widespread ‘prophylactic’ use of antibiotics is a great way to select for resistant organisms, and so I would argue against it on those grounds alone.

Thanks for input but its a heart worm medication for dogs not an antibiotic for humans......

No I'm not but many people who farm acros do this to insure no white or black or red bugs cause dips don't work well on these types of pests
Perfect, thanks.

TBH, I was worried cuz I just bought the Oregon tort from you @ the show. No worries.

I did not say I was concerned about humans; Interceptor/Milbemycin is not prescribed to humans as far as I know, and I am not particularly concerned about crossover to mammalian pets where it is used for heartworm etc.

I would maintain that there is a risk that widespread prophylactic use of Interceptor will lead to resistant forms of the various acro ‘bugs’ that are the intended targets in this context.

I guess I should have been more explicit that on this reefing forum I was concerned about impacts on reefing rather than human health.

I actually qt all my acros and dip multiple times but I've heard red, black and white bugs can be resistant to dips.
Just google the dosing. I just finished a regimen of it. Some post say it goes inactive in water after 12 hours. This is not true - it toasted my hermits 1 week after my last dose so be careful with that

I dose it every 6mo, works great. It's pretty harmless to the tank from what I've experienced -- even my hermits are fine. Shrimp will get nuked so remove them if you can. I do a normal water change at the end of the 3 week treatment, not between. There's a website that has sizing info for how much to dose. I do 1 full large size pill for my 275 tg system

I always use this, but to be honest, I inspect everything with a magnifying glass and a toothbrush afterwards. If I feel the frag needs to come off the plug it does.

The dosage largely varies depending on what types of bugs you are targeting, red bugs i believe can be wiped out with a small dose whereas grey/white bugs I've seen people do multiple 23 mg tablets for 100 gallon. Personally I just finished 5 23mg dose in roughly 250 gallons of water.
