So I am looking to put in a co2 scrubber in a few months. I wanted to get a solenoid valve and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to blow myself up with or catch the house on fire.

I plan to use the apex DC24 bare wire cable connected to a 24v solenoid. @BRS says the use the 120v but I think a 24v is ok for this. Right? I plan to have it open and close in relation to what the pH, is to maintain a steady pH.

I would use the apex solenoid but they do not have a larger push connect fitting that would work with the air intake on the skimmer.

I am attaching the links of what I am using. The first link is the video from BRS that is the concept I am looking for. If someone knows of a cheaper solenoid let me know.

This is just for regulating the CO2[\sub] to the reactor, right?

As long as the valve is rated for the max pressure it will see, there isn’t a problem.

One wire to 24V+, the other to 24V- (common, negative, gnd, etc). Black is typically the negative for DC.
If it doesn’t actuate on the first try, swap the wires. With low voltage DC, there isn’t an issue energizing it reverse polarity briefly.

Freshwater planted aquariums use setups like these quite frequently, though typically with timers, not controllers.

I wish apex would come out with a a larger solenoid. The 1/4” is too small for this application.
