Where is the best source of information to learn about aquarium lighting? It almost seems that you need a PhD to know how to properly program one of these lights.

Program as far as what? There is a ton of information on this site about that specific light including light schedules, etc.

Hey that's me! If you would like I can give you a setting that works for my cube tank. Its 10 Inches above the water and its over a 15 gallon cube, but would work for a 20 gallon cube as well. Since then I have found a setting that works well and got a par meter etc.

If you want I can give you a schedule it just depends on what type of corals you would like. Soft corals, LPS like torches, hammers, Duncan's, etc. or SPS. Also let me know the size of your tank etc.

The schedule I use I think is the most common one made by Pennywise in the My AI support groups other than David Saxbys. Just let me know what type of coral you want and I can post one.

Also you can adjust the time of the start & end by dragging with two fingers left and right in the MY AI app to change when the schedule starts and stops. Ideally you would want a max of 10 hours of light schedule and not a full intensity that entire time.

This is the one I would use. (its a zip file since I cant upload a MY AI file.) With this schedule you should get around 150-200 par at the top of the rock and around 60-80 par on the sand bed if the light is 10 inches above the water level. Perfect for all types of corals. I would recommend a stronger light if your goal is SPS corals.

youtube is a great source for demonstration on how to use any type of aquarium equipment. Just type "AI Prime" into youtube and you'll get countless videos. Or you visit the AI website, they have some explanations and I believe a video demonstration on how to use it, I believe that BRS also did a video series on the AI Prime.

Hi, for like the first six months or so, I was planning on only keep a pair of clownfish - no corals. I may get some corals down the road, but definitely not in the near future. My tank is the IM 15 AIO cube.

Then that's the schedule I would run since it will work with just clowns but it would be ready for corals when the time comes. If you decide to go a different route make sure to keep greens and red to near zero & cool white low as well as you will have algae galore if not. I do recommend getting it ready though.

Sorry for my stupidity, but what schedule would you run? I don’t see anything noted.

Its a Zip file on an earlier post since I cant upload .ai files i just zipped it so I could upload it. To get it in the app just download it, unzip it. Email it to yourself and then on your phone you can send it to the MyAI app and it will show up as a preset. Its a schedule I use for my cube tank or the same size.

It should be attached to this post. Its the best one and used by many who have AI prime 16HDs

Where is the zip file? I looked at all the replies and don’t see a file. It’s probably because I’m not good at using this forum? Could you maybe attach a screenshot of where the zip file is?

No worries, maybe this is easier.

here is a link. If you open this file on the phone you use for the light it should allow you to open it in the MyAI app.

The zip file should be below the post.

Got it! Thanks so much!! I downloaded it to my downloads folder and then uploaded it to my AI app. So this schedule will be good for two clowns and no coral?

Yeah that light schedule is perfect for clowns and it won't grow much algae either compared to a higher white schedule.

You can also adjust the time of ramp up and down with two fingers and moving left & right and it will shift the whole schedule in the app so it still is 10 hrs of light which you should stick with to prevent nuisance algae from taking over.

It also will be fine in the future if you do decide to add corals later down the line.

It should be a link you can press on. It’s actually my thread and the ultimate conclusion was the schedule I sent.

I can post the link a couple of ways and the title name.
