Protein skimmer bubbles in DT

Noooo I'm going crazy. It used to look like the first pic...now it looks like this. I took it out again. Why are the bubbles in and around the pump instead of above it like before? Im soo confused

Did you use epoxy when moving corals around?

I had a similar problem with and Octo 110. Ultimately, the problem was how deep in the water the skimmer was sitting.

Bubbles were produced, but because the skimmer was sitting on the sump bottom, a large portion of the micro bubbles being produced were picked up by the return pump.

By raising the skimmer above the height of the return pump, the micro bubbles in general stay above the return pump intake. Few, if any make it to the tank.

I would try raising the skimmer 3-4 inches in the sump.

No... not the water level... raise the actual skimmer 3-4 inches. You can do this by resting it on a piece of PVC.

I have mine resting on a 4" diameter PVC coupler.

Epoxy will make your skimmer overflow. That's it.

Ok I placed a cpl racks under it, i did have (1) under it now I have 3...its skimming well, but the body is just filled with micro bubbles still

Now you have to adjust your skimmer to the the new water level.

Most people don't run there skimmer after using epoxy in the tank for this very problem you're having. I ran mine after just a small bit was used and it still just overfill with bubbles and filled the cup with water in a few hours. It may need a change in water level. I have some tunze skimmers that it is critical to find the exact water level. Larger skimmers are more adjustable and forgiving. You said it was fine till you used the epoxy. Makes sense to me. If you're animals are 0k cut your skimmer of for a few days. The epoxy will cure and your skimmer will work again. I hope. Lol.
