Just recently installed a vertex omega 150 skimmer and need some help in how to get the water higher .

Right now the pipe is set to fully open and the pump is turned to completely closed.

How do I get the water to rise up? It's sitting at 7.5" of water currently

I don't know anything about that skimmer, but when you say the pipe is fully open, do you mean the exit pipe from the skimmer? If so, you want that more closed than open to raise the water level within the skimmer. That skimmer recommends 7.5 to 8 inches of water so you should be good there.

oh wow I'm dumb lol I thought open would raise the water level and never thought about closing it.

I have closed it and it's now rising all the way to the top

Think of it this way......if you prevent water from quickly escaping the skimmer body, it continues to fill up. As long as it is working :) !

lol dont worry we all have those moments. now you just got to find that sweet spot for it, dial it in by adjusting the pipe tell the water level AKA bubble is where you want it. keep in mind they can be pretty sensitive to water level change in the sump.
so if you not yet have an ATO get one ASAP.
good luck!
