Hello I just set up my new Reef Octopus classic 1000 HOB and it foamed up into the trap a whole lot initially but has since subsided and not really foaming over into the trap much at all anymore. Am I doing something wrong? Photos below.

You need to tune that skimmer by adjusting both flow and air so that bubbles just reach the top and occasionally spill over into the cup. The faster, the lighter that skimate will be.

it’s a bit hard to see but it looks like water flow is too high and air intake to low....

You should be able to get an inch or two in straight foam....just before overfilling the tube.

If you just set it up, it will be a while before your skimmer breaks in, it needs to establish a film on the inside then you will get a more efficient and reliable skim
