Hey all,
I have an aqua one G216 protein skimmer on my 197 litre 4 foot long aquarium and it has been working fine until yesterday it started producing excess bubbles into the tank to the point where a quarter of the tank is covered in random bubbles and I’m unsure as to why.

Only changes I have recently made are I am now dosing Continuum Clean M I think it’s called and I also have recently added chemiclean for cyanobacteria but I doubt that’d affect it? Any ideas on what’s causing it and how to fix it?

Thanks

Certain items will cause your skimmer to go crazy chemi clean might be it ? For the most part it returns back to normal after whatever you put in degrades or is taken up by the tank inhabitants

You could take the cup off your skimmer and let it overflow for a little while. That wouldn't hurt anything and it would save you headaches.

Chemiclean will most certainly make a skimmer go crazy. If you skimmer is not dc and adjustable via controller then just open the gate valve to fully open and try to restrict some of the air flow going into it
