Protein skimmer sizing

I would definitely look at a skimmer with the pump internal to the cone, saves on space. I might also consider weighing the FUGE vs skimmer.

Get an algae scrubber as big as you can fit. I love skimmers and would plan on at least having a small one, but frequent sock changes an oversized algae scrubber is better then a small skimmer IMHO.

Skimmer sizing is a WAG at best …. I wouldn't personally get too hung up if a skimmer is sized for 100.568 gallons and you have a 150.

I agree with this guy on both points. When designing spaces for your 29g sump I would recommend that you focus primarily on the spacing for a proper sized skimmer (with the pump internal to the cone) then second focus on a refugium space for chaeto and rubble. In your 29g sump my vote is Skimmer > refugium
