Protein skimmer stopped working

I bought a eshopps psk protein skimmer of fb marketplace and when I first put it in my tank just to see how it worked, it wouldnt bubble to the top and just kind of pushed and pulled the bubbles instead of foaming like it would normally. I cleaned it and put it back on the tank. and it started working. a little while later I noticed one of the fittings was leaking, so I took it appart and tefloned the threads. that fixed the leak, but when I put it back in it stopped working again. Ive covered the air tube with my finger for a while, Ifilled the chamber with water. But it still hasnt started to foam. any suggestions?

did you clean the air inlet on the pump? Suggest you take apart the Sicce pump and clean it out
