Protein skimmer

I have a 72 bowfront with a 20 gallon sump. There isn't room for a sit in skimmer so I want to hang one off the back of my sump. I have about 200$ I can spend and want to get some opinions on what kind I should get. Thanks

I have fit several skimmers in a 20 high sump. Reef octopus super space saver.

Mines a 20 long with most of it designated to a refugium so it needs I be hob

Most of the super reef octopus space saver models should fit in your 20g sump. Mine even fit the 15g and also the 10g as well.

Everyone is most likely trying to steer you away from HOB because skimmers overflow and stinky skim mate gets everywhere. If you go HOB make sure you devise a way to contain spills

I would go with the aqua maxx hob-1. Works great and has a solution for turnover flow

I can recommend the aquamaxx hob skimmer from some experience. Runs very quiet, breaks in quickly, and has the spill solution. If your collection cup overflows, it will drain back into the skimmer.

Another good one is the ASM mini g. Small and cheap ish.
