Protien skimmer help on setup needed

I have a NAC 7 in my 29g sump it did not come with directions and I have little idea on how to set it up. I put it in and ran it for a couple weeks now tweaking the air intake knob but most of the crud collects in the cone rather than the cup.

What depth should it sit in?

What number do I use on the air knob?

What is the hose on the collection cup for?

I have the same skimmer. I run it in 10 1/2" of water. I skim rather wet so i set the bubbles to go about a 1/2" from the top of the cup. Its usually around the number 3 on the air intake adjustment but it will vary with water depth. The hose off the cup is the drain to drain the cup without having to take it off.

Here it is in a 20L when i used the small sump.
