Finally broke down and got an ICP test. Should have results in a week. Hopefully going to see what’s hurting the sps. A couple small doses of all for reef and AB+ has all the softies and hammers super fluffy. The fragged stuff that didn’t look so great pre treatment is now adding flesh and growing fast.

Busy busy. ICP test came back. Results below. Notably I was planning initially to do the Reef Moonshiners method but I’m having second thoughts after giving it some thought. All for Reef alone has made a huge difference in my hammers and it looks like some of my SPS that was nearly dead is making an effort to come back. I’m sure I was very low on minor/trace elements considering I’ve always had alk/calc on the higher side and they still did poorly.

While I was waiting for my ICP to come back I figured it was a good time to clean my sump. It still had a lot of old algae in there from before the chemiclean and hadn’t been touched in over two years. My brilliant self successfully aligned a bunch of outdoor cleaning with water and one of the few days it snows this decade.
That said, the results look good. It also highlights a couple of extra items in the sump, notably a homemade stand for the skimmer, and some reef octo parts (dosing/sensor holder) and heater holder.

Lots of work for little return, but definitely needed. Need to tidy up cabling but working on some updates. Hoping to finish it this week.

Well, time to address the ICP test. Some notable things were low potassium, low iodine, high copper and some interesting readings on salinity, nitrates, and phosphates to calibrate my measurements against.

Picked up some brightwell potassion, Seachem iodide, cuprisorb, and some phosguard. I was running GFO but was struggling to keep on top of it. I’m hoping the pellets will be easier (and cheaper) in my single reactor as I’m going to put carbon back in.

I’m also noticing some brown algae on the sand now but I’ve got pretty high nitrates and phosphates atm. I’m cutting back on feeding and AB+ to knock it back down. I’d really like to get my skimmer back up and running but currently no room in the system for it.

Quick update, most stuff should show up today. Everything is looking very healthy and puffed up. These were all struggling about a month ago and now they are nearly ready to be dragged again.
