Hi all,
Im still new to the hobby so im still learning But, Over the last few days with the Hot weather we have been having ( UK ) my tank is struggling with Temp and salinity swings.
Im keeping an eye on both every couple hours but when i was at work my tank Temp hit 29.8c and salinity hit 1.028 both have now Stabilized to the right levels.
But my xenias ( i have a lot due to not knowing about their growth rate when i got it ) have shrank / shriveled up / gone limp to about a 20% their normal size.

Is this because of the Temp / salinity swings and they are stressed?

Fish are all fine, no signs of any stress from them eating normal / breathing normal.

This is a " nano " tank, 52liters
Water perms as of testing 30mins ago;
Sal : 1.026
Ammonia & Nitrite 0
Alk 8
Nitrates : 12
Po4 0.05

If anyone has got any other tips to help with cooling that dont cost a fortune send them my way, I have cooling fans going 24/7 currently.

Does your system have an ATO (Auto top off) to replace evaporated water? This is a vital unit for any aquarium.

Many people attach a small computer fan over the tank, having the air blow across the surface of the water cools the water by a few degrees. Another trick is frozen water bottles, or rodi ice cubes

Hi, yes it does have a ATO just a very cheap small one from amazon the container it has only holds about 600ml of water as it was " nano " branded so it emptys pretty quick. just ordered a bigger one on amazon on my lunch break.
Told the wife to freeze up some bottles for when i get home.
Thanks

An ATO should keep salinity stable.

I've never had a tank that hot before so I don't know.... All I would say is that I would be patient with the xenia. It'll probably come back, and I'm not sure there's much you can do if its on its way out.
